Lakeside Methodist Church – Historic Marker 

Location: 301 Jefferson Street N

Founded in 1866, Lakeside Methodist Church has served as a spiritual congregation and center for the advancement of Black excellence. The first city-funded school for Black citizens met in its basement. The congregation relocated to the current church building at 3739 Meridian Street  in 1968.   Sadly, the original Lakeside Methodist  church building burned in 1968.
